Near Beddgelert on the A498.

From A5 turn off at Capel Curig on to A4086 then A498 to Beddgelert. After passing Bryn Gwnant Youth Hostel on left about 1 mile ahead there is a car park on your left. Just past this carpark on the right hand side there is an opening in the stone wall with a direction sign to camp site. This is the start of the Watkins Path to the top of Snowdon. Follow this track straight ahead until you reach the white building on your right hand side. Just past this building on the left is the entrance to HSC car park and the HSC building itself.

If you have been to this centre in June, a December visit is different. Snow is likely to be lying on the top of Snowdon and there could be blizzards...but this will be a great Christmas party weekend!

This is a first class centre owned by Hertfordshire County Council and maintained to a very high standard. There are good beds and washing facilities with plenty of common areas and a very good drying room. Beware the light switch and fire-alarm which are right next to each other in the drying room. There will be one hell of a racket if you hit the fire alarm instead of the light switch!

The centre also has excellent cooking facilities and is brilliant for DAG's Christmas Party weekend. A Christmas dinner is included in the cost of the week end which is £35.

...and do bring a low cost gift for the party on Saturday night (rough guidelines £3-£5 and festively wrapped) otherwise Santa will not visit the centre that night...sniff sniff...
